Sales in the first quarter of 2010
4/16/2010
Škoda Auto sales in the first quarter of 2010 increased by 25% compared to last year, to 178,901 vehicles. March sales marked a record in company's history.
This growth was substantially boosted by the increasing demand on the Chinese automotive market, where the total of 42,707 Škoda vehicles were delivered to customers, i.e. a 122 percent increase against the same period of 2009. In March itself, the car maker delivered the total of 72,900 Škoda vehicles to customers all around the world, representing the highest-ever monthly sales in the company's history.
Škoda Auto saw impressive sales growth in the first quarter also on markets in Central Europe (+13 %; 27,995 vehicles, particularly in the Czech Republic and Poland) and Western Europe (+13 %; 85,187 vehicles). Germany has remained the strongest market in terms of sales volumes, even though the local market experienced a significant drop in the year-to-year comparison. This trend affected Škoda Auto deliveries as well.
Even Western European markets excluding Germany showed positive development with sales rising by 43% to 56,763 sold vehicles in comparison with the previous year. Great Britain emerged as an important driving force with 11,704 sold vehicles, representing a year-on-year growth of Škoda sales by 72 %. Deliveries in Spain, Portugal or Norway experienced dynamic growth as well.
The most popular Škoda vehicle in the first quarter was Octavia (77,192 vehicles; i.e. +32 %). The second most successful model was Škoda Fabia (52,700 vehicles; i.e. -3%). The fastest growing sales were those of the Škoda Superb model (20,514 vehicles; i.e. +119%). Customers also showed strong interest in the Škoda Yeti SUV (12,195 vehicles). Furthermore, the car maker sold 7,886 Roomster vehicles and 8,414 Octavia Tour vehicles.
„Sales results of Škoda Auto show a positive trend and are influenced by the dynamic development in China. Growth impulses also came from some of the European countries. Regarding prospects for the current year, we remain optimistic, yet cautious. The future of the new models such as Yeti and Superb Combi is promising, as they achieved sales success that exceeded our expectations. In general, we will continue on the path to growth," said Reinhard Fleger, Škoda Auto board member for sales and marketing.

Yeti ve Superb Combi modellerine olan talep artışı nedeniyle Kvasiny fabrikasında çalışan sayısı arttırılmış. Bu büyüme nedeniyle aynı fabrikada montajı yapılan Roomster'ın Vrchlabí fabrikasına nakledilmesi düşünülüyormuş.

Demand for Yeti and Superb Combi increases
4/15/2010
The positive trend in the automotive market regarding the Yeti and Superb Combi models has resulted in the increase of their production at the Škoda Auto plant in Kvasiny.
With the start of production of these models, there was an increase of personnel to the current 3,500 employees. In order to maintain positive production growth, Škoda Auto is considering transferring Škoda Roomster assembly from Kvasiny to the Vrchlabí plant. This potential transfer would ensure stabilization of production capacities at both plants and, furthermore, demonstrate the social responsibility of Škoda Auto.

Mayıs ayı satışları ile ilgili daha ayrıntılı açıklama:
May was a record-breaking month for Škoda Auto
http://new.skoda-auto.com/COM/about/info/news/News/Pages/2010_31_SalesMay.aspx (http://new.skoda-auto.com/COM/about/info/news/News/Pages/2010_31_SalesMay.aspx)
Škoda Auto's sales in May continued growing to reach 65,349 vehicles (+10 % as compared with last year), a new sales record and the best May result in the company's history.
The total sales since the beginning of 2010 have thus grown by 16.6 % to 307,427 vehicles. The Chinese market has again contributed a great deal to the overall figures – Škoda sold 14,162 cars in China in May to reach altogether 68,977 vehicles sold over the first five months of this year.
Škoda's sales in the domestic market, the Czech Republic, grew by 20.9 % from January till May 2010, reaching 24,700 vehicles. The brand's sales in United Kingdom and Spain grew by 72 % and 65 %, respectively, in Germany, in the aftermath of the end of the government-subsidised car scrappage scheme, the sales fell by 36 % but Škoda has defended its position as No. 1 importer.
Just like in the previous months, Škoda's worldwide bestseller in May was the Octavia (26,967 vehicles, + 16.7 %). There is also big demand for the Superb (+ 193.3 %; 9,217 vehicles) and the Yeti (+ over 500 %, 4,266 vehicles).
“We have managed to make use of our strong position in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as profit from the company's international profile, primarily in China, India and Russia where we keep growing. With the car scrappage schemes being over, the situation in Europe in 2010 remains a big challenge," said Reinhard Fleger, Škoda Auto BOD Member for Sales and Marketing.
