Safety is one of Škoda’s top priorities in developing new vehicles. That involves passengers inside the car and pedestrians as well. New cars are being adapted to be in line with the latest safety technologies.

In a crash test at the Škoda test track in Úhelnice (CZ) the safety of Škoda cars has been demonstrated successfully at the speed of 90 km/h.

Commenting on this occasion, Škoda Auto BOD Member for Technological Development Dr. Eckhard Scholz said: “Safety is one of the key aspects in our vehicle development operations, as well as at the post-commissioning stage. Our goal is to offer a safe and comfortable vehicle of an attractive design that, in line with the “Simply Clever” philosophy, our customers see as the best choice. Škoda Auto undertakes ongoing efforts aimed at further improvements of its safety standards and continuously informs customers of best safety practices”, adds Scholz.

In early 2008, Škoda Auto launched a research project to map out the behaviour of vehicles in actual road accidents. One of the objectives of this project is to find new ways in which the vehicle alone can eliminate the consequences of an accident to ensure protection is even more efficient. The findings and outcomes of this project are used directly in the development of existing as well as future cars, helping to enhance safety structures and parameters of all Škoda vehicles.

One of the key results of this research is the finding that, although Škoda vehicles are able to protect people in serious accidents, the occupants often make mistakes that reduce or even eliminate the effect of the respective safety elements. Examples include use of the wrong type of child seats, failure to fasten seat belts, leaving objects loose in the car, etc.

To ensure optimum safety in all Škoda cars, elements of active and passive safety are built in. The term active safety refers to structural elements and properties of the vehicle that are designed to prevent or eliminate road accidents. In particular these include the driving and dynamic properties of the car, as well as all elements and devices designed to improve driveability and enhance the comfort of the passengers and the driver in the first place. When it is not possible to avoid an accident despite all the active safety elements installed in the vehicle, passive safety elements take over. Their task is to protect the health of the people involved in a possible crash. Passive safety is no more just a matter of occupant protection - these days it also involves pedestrians, the most vulnerable of all those involved in road traffic accidents.

In line with its strategy of increasing the volume of car safety information and as the next logical step in its strategy of communicating the safety of Škoda vehicles, Škoda Auto has launched a new section entitled Safety on its website www.skoda-auto.com.

Güzel bir test alanı...Emniyet kemerinin öneminin iyi kavranmasını sağlar.Okullara dönem dönem bunların eğitimi verilmeli.Küçük yaşta verilecek bu şekildeki görsel eğitimler daha kalıcı olmaktadır.
